Welcome! I’m Jodie

Hi, I’m Jodie! I’m a Archives Assistant and Researcher at the Agassiz-Harrison Museum, and a Research Assistant at the University of the Fraser Valley who’s never far from an archive or a good book.

I created BC History Diary to bring together all the things I love: historical research, storytelling, and connecting with British Columbia’s rich past. This blog is where I share the fascinating people, places, and letters I uncover, especially through my work with local museums and archives.

Why I Started This Blog

While studying history and working in archives, I kept finding incredible stories that deserved to be told — letters from the 1890s, forgotten settlements, and the everyday lives of settlers, families, and Indigenous communities in BC. I realized I needed a place to share them beyond academic papers or museum labels.

That’s how BC History Diary began — as a way to combine my background in legal research, my training in historical analysis, and my passion for storytelling into something meaningful and accessible.
